Extracellular vesicles and circulating RNAs in parasite-host interplay
Communication within a parasites population and between parasites and their hosts can be mediated by the extracellular release of biomolecules (proteins, nucleic acid and metabolites) either in a free-form or embedded in vesicles. In the last decade, significant progresses have been made on the characterization of these biomolecules, on the mechanism governing their release and uptake, and on their roles as modulator of physiological and pathophysiological processes. This symposium aim to provide a state-of-the-art overview on extracellular vesicles and small/microRNAs in the field of basic research and applied parasitology and to envisage future research directions.
